How we came to be
We were tired of going to new places and only sticking to tourist areas. We wanted to experience all of the beauty and unique cultures that are dotted around the world. What better way to do that, than to start a company that opens travellers’ eyes to the hidden gems in some of the most popular cities around the world?
What we do
We work with photographers, bloggers and travellers to share hidden gems around the world and unique, beautiful experiences. Our aim is to help you plan your holiday to get the most out of it by doing what the locals do and exploring like a local.
There are far more than Seven Wonders of the World in our eyes. They are all around us – and our Discoverers help you find them.
We have Discoverers dotted around Europe who showcase their home cities. They’ve recommended restaurants, bars, hotels and attractions that stand out from the rest.
Our Guest Posters blog about random destinations around the world. Some of them are cabin crew who, due to the nature of their careers, experience a level of travel that not many others can achieve. Some of our posters are keen travellers who want to blog about their journey as they trek through Asia. They are from all walks of life and can show you just how amazing travelling can be.
Now that you know what we do and why we do it, let’s introduce you to the team…
Meet the Directors
Ben is a family man, a keen traveller and most importantly; talented when it comes to building websites! This means that Urban Discoveries always looks great and provides the best, most up to date and real-time information for all of our users.
Ben’s favourite spots across the Urban Discoveries tend to include beer, which is why he wrote about the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam.
He also wishes that the ice throne he is sat on could be his office chair. Maybe one day.
Rob is a Chartered Accountant; but don’t let that fool you. He looks to offset his inherent vapidity by trying to travel when he can, often to many of the sites on the Urban Discoveries radar.
When travelling, Rob thoroughly enjoys meeting locals and immersing himself in different cultures, especially through food, drink and music.
Fun fact: Rob is the lead guitarist in a Queen tribute band.
